On January 15, new provisions of Bill C-6 involving changes to Canada’s citizenship revocation process came into effect. Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Ahmed Hussen announced that under this new process the Federal Court will now be the decision-maker for all citizenship revocation cases, except in instances where the individual requests that the Minister make the decision. This applies to cases involving fraud, false representation or knowingly concealing information about residency, identity, criminality, security and human or international rights violations.
